Santander

Santander has a road network that connects all the cities of the department with the capital city, and also with the rest of the national territory. The Norte trunk road is one of the primary alternatives as it passes through the municipalities of Barbosa, Socorro, San Gil and Bucaramanga. On the other hand, the Carare trunk road starts in Barbosa towards the municipality of Vélez, connecting eventually with the cities of Cimitarra and Puerto Olaya. There are also other paved roads that connect Bucaramanga with Cúcuta, Norte de Santander; and to the West with the municipality of Barrancabermeja. The Magdalena Medio trunk road, through the West, connects Santander with the departments of Tolima, Caldas and Antioquia.

By plane:

 Palonegro International airport is located 20 kilometers away from Bucaramanga city. It receives flights from the main domestic destinations, with different airlines options. National flights last between 30 and 45 minutes approximately.

Panama City and Fort Lauderdale have direct flight to Bucaramanga. 

By car:

From the center of the country, there is the route of Zipaquirá, passing by Chiquinquirá to Barbosa, the gateway to the South of the department.

Route through Tunja, passing by Arcabuco, with Barbosa as the final destination.

There are three tolls barriers in both routes.

The Magdalena Medio trunk road crosses La Dorada (Caldas) and connects with the route to Santander, to cross eventually, territory of Puerto Serviez, Puerto Araújo, La Lizama, the income, Lebrija and Bucaramanga. This journey may include pass through several tolls barriers, between six and eight, depending on the starting point.

Santander has other routes by land, including the Norte Higway, which crosses the municipalities of Barbosa, Socorro, San Gil, Bucaramanga and other towns. Barbosa begins the stretch that connects with the municipality of Vélez, and from there to Puerto Olaya and Cimitarra, through the trunk road of Carare. There are paved roads that connect Bucaramanga with Cúcuta to the North; and with Barrancabermeja to the West. The trunk road of the Magdalena Medio, through the West, connects the department of Santander with Tolima, Caldas and Antioquia, through the towns of Barrancabermeja and Bucaramanga.
