Un gran número de eventos culturales engalanan este municipio durante el año, entre los que destacan:
Festival de Luces: 7 y 8 de diciembre
Villa de Leyva se viste de luces y juegos pirotécnicos para celebrar una de las festividades más importantes en la época decembrina: el día de las velitas. En este municipio se dan cita turistas y locales para disfrutar de un espectáculo lleno de color y fuego, amenizado por procesiones religiosas y concursos para premiar los polvoreros de mayor trayectoria y profesionalismo en el país.
Festival Astronómico Celebrado en el mes de enero
Desde 1997, este Festival se ha tomado las calles del municipio de Villa de Leyva para reunir a expertos y aficionados a la astronomía, que desean observar el firmamento y descubrir sus encantos, como lo hicieron los indígenas Muiscas en la época precolombina.
Festival del Viento y las Cometas
Celebrado en agosto, este festival reúne, alrededor de la plaza principal de Villa de Leyva, locales y visitantes de diferentes zonas del país y del mundo, quienes asisten para observar un espectáculo cargado de color, cometas y profesionales participando en las diferentes categorías, como cometa artesanal, cometa espectáculo, cometa deportiva, vuelo vertical, vuelo lejano, vuelo en equipo, cometas gigantes, entre otras.
Festival de Cine
En el mes de septiembre se dan cita en este municipio cineastas nacionales e internacionales para dar a conocer sus producciones cinematográficas a locales y visitantes, a través de conversatorios y diferentes salas de cine ubicadas en distintos escenarios de este municipio.
