Festival internacional de la cultura de Boyacá
El festival se celebra entre la última semana de agosto y la primera de septiembre. Este evento ha sido uno de los más trascendentes en la cultura colombiana, ya que abarca encuentros como el “Zoom Festival de Cine de Tunja”, el “Encuentro Nacional Indígena”, la “Bienal de Artesanías de Colombia”, entre otros.
Este evento se viene realizando desde 1973, cuando el jefe de Relaciones Públicas de la Industria Licorera de Boyacá, empezó con este proyecto, reuniendo la participación de artistas nacionales e internacionales y con el apoyo del Instituto de Cultura y Bellas Artes de Boyacá.
Son diversas exposiciones las que se realizan en este festival. Demostraciones de arte, cine, teatro y conciertos de rock, jazz, bolero y tango, están presentes en esta época del año. La preparación del festival comienza desde el mes de mayo de cada año, para poder recibir a turistas y público local que desee disfrutar de una de las muestras más grandes de cultura del país.
Grandes orquestas y grupos musicales se han presentado a través de los años, entre los cuales se encuentran: la Orquesta de Cámara de Leipzig, la Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá, la Orquesta Sinfónica de Boston, entre otros.
La celebración de este festival propone la demostración del desarrollo cultural y socioeconómico de la región y de muchas tras comunidades a nivel nacional.
Semana Santa
La Semana Santa es uno de los eventos católicos más importantes de Colombia, y por supuesto, Tunja ofrece una de las fiestas religiosas de mayor esplendor y tradición en el país.
En esta época se conmemora la Semana Santa con variedad de eventos culturales, procesiones, exposiciones de arte religioso, retiros espirituales, misas, entro otras actividades religiosas, que se desarrollan en toda la ciudad.
Aguinaldo Boyacense
Se celebra entre los días 16 a 24 de diciembre, cuando se realiza la típica “Novena de Aguinaldos”: tradición católica que se lleva a cabo en todo el país. En esta época se realizan comparsas, carrozas, conciertos musicales, entre otras actividades de carácter cultural y festivo.
