Villa del Rosario
Este municipio fue lugar de nacimiento del prócer colombiano Francisco de Paula Santander, en 1792. Su casco urbano se divide en dos: la zona antigua donde se encuentra su centro histórico y la zona nueva lugar en el que se ubica la infraestructura y servicios urbanos, así como las viviendas de la mayor parte de la población. Al estar ubicado en los alrededores de Cúcuta, hace parte de su área metropolitana.
Contrariamente a lo que se piensa, la producción cafetera que se dio en el país, inició en la zona nortesantandereana y posteriormente se expandió al resto del territorio colombiano. Fue allí donde se realizó la primera exportación del grano en 1803, gracias al trabajo de Pedro Chaveu y Gervasio Rubio. En la actualidad la producción departamental de café se concentra en municipios como San Calixto, Labateca, Salazar, Toledo y Lourdes.
Entre sus principales atractivos se destacan:
Está conformado por la casa natal de Francisco de Paula Santander, las ruinas de la Capilla de Santa Ana y Tres Esquinas, el Templo del Congreso de la Gran Colombia, el Monumento al general Santander y la Casa de la Bagatela. La zona antigua de Villa del Rosario fue declarada Monumento Nacional de Colombia en 1971

Los Patios
Este municipio se encuentra ubicado en los alrededores de Cúcuta y también hace parte de su área metropolitana.
Fue en el año 1700 cuando se establecieron haciendas agrícolas, que posteriormente se convirtieron en caseríos, con los que sedaría origen al municipio. En el año 1887, se fundó la primera planta eléctrica que surtiría de luz la ciudad de Cúcuta, en la Hacienda los Colorados, gracias al trabajo del señor Augusto Duplat.
Entre sus atractivos turísticos se encuentran: el Museo Arqueológico y Paleontológico de Los Vedos, la Casa de la Cultura Arnulfo Briceño y el Parque Recreacional con el parque acuático Manatí.

El Zulia
Gracias a sus diferentes formaciones hídricas como riachuelos, quebradas y charcos, que convergen en ríos como el Zulia, este municipio es por excelencia el destino de recreación de la región, en donde los visitantes pueden encontrar una gran oferta de balnearios, piscinas naturales, restaurantes y piqueteaderos, complementada con el desarrollo de la piscicultura. Muchos de estos establecimientos ofrecen variedad de recetas, entre las que se destaca las “rampuchadas”, plato típico de la región, acompañada de diferentes bebidas refrescantes como el coctel de coco.
La distancia con la capital nortesantandereana es de apenas 12 km y se encuentra en su área de influencia. El nombre de este municipio proviene de la hermosa princesa Zulia, hija de cacique Cinera, quien habitara la región en lo que actualmente se conoce como Arboledas.

San Cayetano
A los alrededores de Cúcuta se ubica este municipio, en donde se puede disfrutar de diferentes balnearios, restaurantes y zonas de recreación, acompañados de la comida típica nortesantandereana, entre la que se destaca la “rampuchada del cornejo” o el “cabrito de urimaco”.

Bochalema
Este municipio es conocido por las diferentes actividades de ecoturismo y aventura que se pueden realizar, aprovechando la riqueza paisajística de sus alrededores. Allí los visitantes encuentran una variada oferta de balnearios, zonas azufradas, deportes náuticos y establecimientos de alojamiento. Así mismo Bochalema es famosa por las artesanías que los lugareños elaboran con materiales como cabuya o barro.
Entre sus principales atractivos Bochalema ofrece: la laguna El Capote, el balneario de la Chiracoca, las aguas termales de El Raizón y el Azufral, el Sendero Agua Blanca, entre otros.
