Para complementar su viaje por Barichara, existen una serie de actividades que puede realizar en los alrededores de este municipio, que además de su oferta histórica y cultural, también cuenta con deportes extremos y de aventura, ecoturismo y turismo religioso.
Para aquellos que les apasiona el ecoturismo y quieren hacer un recorrido entre caminos, ríos, barro, vegetación y pozos para practicar torrentismo y rappel, el Salto del Mico, una caída de 80mts que se forma de la quebrada Barichara, es ideal para sentir la adrenalina. Se encuentra ubicado en el municipio de Pinchote.
Para practicar espeleología, se puede visitar la cueva La Antigua, en la vía que comunica San Gil con Barichara, que ofrece una aventura a través de cuevas, salones, barro y caídas de agua.
Guane
Muy cerca a Barichara se encuentra Guane, municipio que, con su nombre, honra la presencia de los indígenas que habitaron sus tierras y dejaron una herencia única en el sistema de construcción de viviendas, creación de piezas artísticas de gran valor, trabajo de materiales como el fique y la madera, entre otros prodigios. Su entorno conserva vestigios de fósiles y amonitas que dan cuenta de lo que en un momento fue un inmenso mar que cubrió su territorio.
El Museo Paleontológico y Arqueológico del municipio de Guane alberga evidencia de la presencia de los indígenas que habitaron este territorio.
Este municipio se encuentra custodiado por la iglesia y Santuario de Santa Lucía, patrona de sus habitantes, quienes en su honor construyeron este templo en el año 1600. Desde Barichara toma el Camino Real en la Glorieta Piedra de Bolívar en un recorrido de dos horas aproximadamente.

Conocido como “ciudad levítica del clima de seda” por ser cuna de un gran número de sacerdotes al servicio de la Iglesia Católica y por sus 19°C de temperatura promedio. Fue fundada en 1743 por Francisco Basilio de Benavides y Melchor y se convirtió en el lecho de muerte del alemán Geo von Lengerke, constructor de caminos reales que facilitaron el comercio entre los pueblos y ayudaron al desarrollo de la región.
